Hi
Im running Linux at our local BBS, kernel 2.0.35, its stable and nice.
But there is some problem with the z8530drv-2.4c, as you know, ill found
out
that in kernel 2.1.xxx thats more work done with z8530drv.
What does you recomend me to do?
1, Patch the 2.0.35 kernel with z8530drv-3.0-patch-2.0.35, and use 3.0
sccutils
2, Upgrade the system to run kernel 2.1.xxx
3, Continue to use z8530drv-2.4c, and wait for release of kernel 2.2
It seems that z8530drv-2.4c runs now, at least the 3 1k2 ports whe have,
the 9600bps port seems to going up and down, not the PTT problem here..hi,
but this port seems not to here sometimes.. ;)
This port generates _LOTS_ of interupts/rxerrors.

About 42 _millions_ of rxinterupts on 48 hours, and im the only one who
access this port,
Approx 243 rxinteruppts / sec , this is _bad_ thing.
Okay, the system dosnt seems to slow down, but i can figure out how the
driver works hard.. :/
Hm.. allright, ill have this problem when i used 9k6/G3RUH modem on our
last MS-DOS box with
G8BPQ/F6FBB/KA9Q Nos, here ill used a simple AND to avoid this. (used DRSI
cards then)
(i.e: Dont send any data if there is NO DCD from modem..)

Ill will made this HW mod to the 9600bps modem thats on Baycom USCC>4 also,
then i should get rid of this (stupid) problem also..
But, there is some code in scc.c thats turns off the receiver when this
modem
runs with External clock , shouldnt this be a soft solution insted of
my HW patch?
Sometimes ill see the rxinterupts stop increasing, but at most it dont
stop..
BTW, is the development discontinued on the z8530drv thats found in 2.0.xx
kernels?
(i.e z8530drv-2.4c)
Whops, this was mutch more than i intended to write.. ;)
Okay, 73s de Morgan / sm6tky es Happy new year to all of you.
