Debian has a special rescue (installation) disk for low-memory systems,
which SHOULD install in 4 MB.  Be sure to have plenty of swap available,
you'll need it.
 
Whatever distribution is used, one needs to be very cautious in choosing
which packages to install if you are using a hard drive > 100 MB or so.

Compilation of a kernel (usually needed to get the ax.25 drivers) on such
a machine is probably an all-day job.  This can be done on a second,
larger computer.
