I've been trying to compile soundmodem support on a RH 5.1 system with great
difficulty. For some reason I keep finding that I come out with bad module
dependancies and trouble compiling the ax25-utils packages (patches all
apply sucessfully, compilation is ok).

Now, I never had trouble getting the soundmodem to work about a year ago on
a different system, and I am suspecting I am using the wrong patches.

This is because I am not sure what patches I should be applying and to what
kernel. The AX25-HOWTO seems to list old kernels and patches, and the files
seem a lot harder to find now.

Anyway, it is probably easier just to list what I have:

ax25-module14c
ax25-module14e
ax25-module14f
ax25-module14h
..all say they should be applied to a clean 2.0.31 source tree (which I also
have)

I also have kernel source for 2.0.34 that came with RH 5.1.

The ax25-utils (2.1.42a I think) wont compile (strange #define conflict
which really shouldn't cause trouble when you check the headers) though I
have the binaries from last year which I can use in the meantime. Yes, I
also have ncurses on the system.

So, what is the patch to use and where can I find it thesedays? Is there
some trouble with using the soundmodem with RH 5.1?

thanks
