On high-speed links (56k or higher) the standard 'gated' running with rip 
enabled works fine.

On low speed links (9600/1200)  I'm experimenting with a modified version 
of gated that slows down the rate at which rate broadcasts occur.  For years
we've used modified values in NOS that have worked fine.  Now I'm trying to
make our Linux boxes work in the same environment.
