Sheesh! Looks like the problem is solved. I just changed the hostname 
my machine hostname to match the hostname in node.conf and rebooted, 
and now the directory structure is there, so I started up all the ax25
stuff and it looks like it's going to work now. I can't think why there 
might be a relationship there ... I've got about 20 minutes
until the next netrom broadcast occurs on this segment, so we'll see 
for sure soon, but because the directories are there I'm sure it'll work.

I had just rebooted a couple of times this moring while trying to figure 
it out, and the hostname was the only thing I've changed ... hmmm, well
maybe I'll just put it back again and see what happens ;)

Anyhoo ... I think I have it now. On to getting 9600 baud going!
