4800 bps manchester, used with s55mv's modems has a good use here.
Especially because it works with Italtel's surplus uhf radios, where
9600 g3ruh will not work. Or for that matter with IC-02/IC-04 HTs.
The hardware modem costs about $20, with readily available parts,
and work with SV, TNC2 and SCC cards.
