Thanks Yuri & Alberto,

Thanks to all involved, especially Richard Adams who is helping me get this
varmit of a system to work.

The problem was a hardware related issue. The Hardware was plugged into the
wrong tty! A spot of incorrectly labelled (or no labels to be precise!) tty
ports.
Thus, YAM was in ttyS1 when I thought it was in ttyS3, and when I swapped it
over, because I thought the port may not be working, I then thought it was
in S1 when it was actually in S3.

Now another problem has turned up, this one to do kissattach.

When I enter ;

# kissattatch /dev/ttyS1 4m 44.131.162.144

(4m is the name of the port in axports.)

I get a couple of errors, one relating to tty speed. Something is not right
as yet.
How do I set the tty port speed? I read the manual for setserial, and it
confused me more as there are a number of speed settings. Which one do I
want? if any?

If the manuals were better, and not written for a telepath, Linux would be
much
more popular than it already is.

The AX25-Howto needs re-writing (please Terry :o) ) so a complete idiot like
myself can read it, understand it, and what's more, configure their system
from it, without finding holes that are not documented, or if they are, you
need to be a mind-reader to know where the docs are.
