I have now checked on the slackware site and compared my Slackware 4.0
install CD with the latest I can find on the site. Apart from one or two
text files, I can not find anything newer. Can someone point me in the
direction of this so called Slackware 7.0. Does it use the new 2.4
kernels? I am using 2.2.6 upgraded by hand to 2.2.13.

Then you have not loked at the correct site :-)
There is a big difference between Slack 4 and Slack 7.
The main difference being that Slack 7 is a glibc2 distribution, Slack 4 is still a
libc5 distro.

You can find Slackware 7.0 at ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux/slackware-7.0/
