Yes, but if you had quotas on, you would not have filled up your
entire disk and eaten all your inodes. I have quotas on all accounts
on my systems, including my own, to prevent just such incidents.
As I said, Linux is not invulnerable, but it does provide better
tools...
What many linux zealots fail to remember is that they were not born
knowing good system administration. They forget how much they had
to learn. I learned quotas through a bitter personal experience
similar to yours...
