I'm using a Newcom 56ifx I bought about a year ago for $100 . Works great
. you can set all for com ports & set seven different irq's by jumper, or
plug and play for windows... Get this even has refferences to Linux in
the manual(light headed). Flash bios upgradable, and I got the v.90 from
thier website for free....... You should be able to find them for
around $70 dollars now...... Unfourtunately that's when you can find them
last time I saw one was in the local Compusa(pain) maybe try
computershopper?......

Or, if you really can't wait (like me), check out Anthony d'Amico's

I have this exact mouse at home. That also means that I can't
look at my XF86config to see what I did. I will say that using
"proto auto" works just fine, I'm not sure what else. I simply
followed the directions in the "wheel mouse how-to" and all is
well.

Hi
I have problems with my Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370 (SoundBlaster 64/128 PCI) PnP.
It reconizes the card when I type sndconfig, but then I can't select
I/O, IRQ, or DMA. (Does it depends on the PnP?)

It writes /etc/conf.modules and when goes to play the sound sample I get this
message:
es1370: write to codec register timeout
es1370: write to codec register timeout
es1370: write to codec register timeout

I have a Logitech FirstMouse (no +, sorry) and here is my XF86Config Pointers
section entry:

Section "Pointer"
   Protocol "Microsoft"
   Device "/dev/mouse"
   BaudRate 1200
EndSection

As this guy said, you do need to delete everything else from your pointers
section. You probably ought to try xconfigurator to see if any of those
other options are needed. Also go check out the man pages on
XF86Config...skip to the section on pointers. There IS good information
there.

I've got an SVEC PN-1700T here. It's ISA with jumpers - NE2000
compatible. Compiled with NE support and it works just fine. The card
is also a combo card - it'll do 10-BaseT or 10-Base2. Got it real cheap
at an online auction - around $10 or so before shipping.

Paul,

thanks for your help... your tips got me on the right track... ftape
finally works for me, and with BRU! Still have some anomalous things...
like screen going blank when inserting modules.. but i just startx into my
gui ('cause keyboard still works) and screen comes back... i think i
have too many copies of the ftape.o, zftape.o and bpck-fdc.o modules
floating around on my disk and they're conflicting with each other... i
aee a lot of those "inresolved symbols" floating across the screen just
before it goes blank.

later gator,
frank

The question is, is the graphics you do limited by the CPU's integer
performance, its floating point performance, or the performance of
your graphics card? CPU is irrelevant to internet performance, and
office stuff is mostly integer computation.

Me too. The best thing to do is wait until kernel 2.2.0 stabilizes, then
install it, and use the via-rhine driver for the NIC. Otherwise you can
scrounge on the net for via-rhine.c, but I can't remember where it's at
offhand.

The Roadrunner system does have a 10BaseT connector, but any NIC
