I've been reading about dead pixels on laptop TFT displays, but what I've read
doesn't address the problem I'm seeing.
My new 14.1" laptop (a G3 powerbook) *sometimes* has 0 dead pixels, and
sometimes has 1 (so far) dead pixel--but the location has varied (3 places so
far). It seems to last until some "bang" temporarily fixes it (like tapping
on the screen, or closing the lid), though it often reappears in the same
spot, even after cold reboots.
>From what I've read so far, dead pixels are supposed to be relatively
permanent--a manufacturing defect, not one likely to pop up where there was
none before. So...any ideas what's going on?
(ps it's not just a matter of background color--i never see these bad pixels
with the background white, so i always check with a fully dark screen)

Hi everybody,
I'm installing RH 5.2 under an AT&T Globalyst S10 with a 14" monitor.
The monitor is not in the list and I don't know the vert. refresh rate and
horiz sync rate to configure Xfree86. We don't have the doc anymore
The model is an AT&T model CM1200.
I know they are built by NCR but I don't get any answer to the mails I send
them
Anyone can help ?
Thanks in advance

I believe I have the same card and same distro. I received an error,
changed the dma, and listened
to Linus say Linux (a rather old au file, I believe).
Good luck.

You could try The Tech Page:
http://blue-planet.com/tech/index.html
I have used the page in the past to find jumper settings for old drives
with no documentation.

Hi everybody,
Do you know the PC104 module MOPS/586 from JUMPtec company
with CS8900 Ethernet chip from CRYSTAL Manufacturer ???
I search the LINUX Ethernet driver for the CS8900 chip.
I don't found anything about it on LINUX HOWTO !!!
Does this chip is so exotic ?
or does exist a driver compatible for another chip ?
If someone knows it, I congratulate him for his answer !!!
Thanks for any help.

I just gpt a new drive for my Alpha after my long serving SCSI-II
died. I have partitioned it up and only one partition has anything
that I can't replace, the rest is just stuff from installs etc which
can be easily recovered. I have a JAZ 1GB drive which I have been
using to transfer files and such around so I decided to use a spare
disc as my backup so I could try out BRU2000 which came with my
RH install discs. It works well with the drive, I needed to edit
one of the tcl scripts for xbru to stop it trying to rewind the
drive but otherwise it works well and I can pull any files or
directories I need out of the archive. Using a 1GB disc is much
faster than using a tape format and I can do weekly backups of just
the stuff that has changed so that 1GB disc will keep me going for
quite some time. I like the security of it verifying backups and
so forth, I used to use tar all the time and will continue to do
so in addition to BRU.

Hi,
If any one knows how to get the inkjet win-printer okijet 2010 to work
with linux i am interested.
It should be compatible in dos mode under windows with the HP 500c but
nothing comes out if
hp 500 c is selected with the printtool under redhat 5.2
I tried text mode only with out any result either.
The okijet 2010 is referenced on the list of Linux Incompatibility from
David Welton, under level of difficulty 1 : No drivder written. ... but
the oki 4 w is also referenced there while there is a driver now called
: oki4linux.tar.gz which can be found with http://ftpsearch.ntnu.no/
Oki also claims it emulates PCL 3 but they also confirm it to be a
winprinter, designed for windows ....

These devices use the paride drive (ide on parallel port).

This is a byte ordering problem ! First make a test with a .au file
Then use sox to reverse byte ordering in your .wav file

the seggestion given sounds pretty good.
i belive in order to do a pnpdump you must have your modem jumpers set to
pnp. do the config and all then set it up.
i was reading the previous post and i just wanted to know how were you using
your mouse ? if you do not have a serial mouse just disable your com one and
it will not occupy the irq you are wanting to use. i am not sure if you have
disabled it yet. but if you have not try it. dont do it if you have a serial
mouse.
hope i was of some assistance

In response to the original question, I don't know of any PCI multiport

(My goodness, even at Radio Shack prices, UARTs cost less than $5 US!)
Best bet is to go with either an external, ISA w/jumpers, or hang on for
USB support. and probably in that order. The first 2 are available now, though
the external is probably a little more expensive, and USB ssupport for Linux is
in developement now.

Do you have SCSI support and SCSI tape support either in the

tar is usable with just about any SCSI tape device. I've

My original linux machine was a 5x86/133 (upgraded from
486dx33, 1992 BIOS) with 32MB RAM, 700MB EIDE drive, 2.1GB
SCSI drive NEC SCSI CDROM, Exabyte SCSI tape, S3Vision 968

but quite usable. In fact it remains in service as the
