TV out for the G400/G200 should be no problem to implement since the specs are all
available. But I do not know if anybody did this yet.

It does work for Voodoo3 3000 and for the Miro Highscore2 (Voodoo 2).
For the Voodoo3 look for the lm_sensors package (I think it is only in the CVS tree)
or mail me for details.

Date: Sun, 04 Jul 1999 21:00:06 GMT

I have a Leadtek S320II on an Abit BX6r2 motherboard, several OS'
multi-boot. My RH6 install was 'everything'. RH6 detects the card as a Viper
V770, which seems close enough. It does not detect the RAMDAC, though, so I
choose the generic recommended. I think that may be the cause of the
following problem

I have tried every possible resolution and color depth configuration of
Xconfigurator, but the Gnome desktop with the enlightenment window manager
always comes up in a ridiculously low resolution, I'm guessing 320x200. As
you can imagine, almost nothing can be done to explore settings at that
size, I can't even find the exit command on the menu. Its all I can do to
kill x without a hardware reset.

Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I need the latest TNT X-server
rpm to even get X started. I was hoping to get RH working as-is before
patching up to newer X components, because I still have network issues to
work out with my 2 NICs and a cablemodem. Thanks for any advice.

Subject: HELP w/ modem!
Date: Sun, 4 Jul 1999 17:49:18 -0400

I have a Boca 33.6 PnP modem. Linux (from what I can tell from doing a
'dmesg') recognizes my modem as "tty03 at 0x02e8 (IRQ=3) is a 16550A".
Windows recognizes the modem at I/O 03f8 and IRQ 4.

I downloaded isapnptools1.15a and did the following commands:

cd /etc
pnpdump > isapnp.conf

I opened the isapnp.conf file, found the Boca Modem, and removed the comment
(#) from the beginning of the lines that contained the I/O 0x02e8 and the
IRQ right under it. I then removed the comment from the ACT Y thing. I saved
the file then did "isapnp isapnp.conf". It displayed 2 boards I had.

I ran Minicom and it still won't initialize my modem. I read some sites that
had info on PnP modems, and one said to try "setserial /dev/ttySx auto_irq
autoconfig". I did that... nothing.

Is there anything I can do with this modem? I know the modem itself works...
I'm just stuck on this and can't find help anywhere.

Thanks

check your /etc/printcap file and make sure the lp thing points to
/dev/lp0 instead of /dev/lp1 (used by the kernels prior to 2.2.X)

I have a TeleVideo SVP270-
17in Aperture Grille, 1600x1200@75Hz, takes BNC and VGA input.

I love it! The picture is sharp @ 1280x1024 (my day-to-day resolution), and the
colors are vibrant. As with any Aperture Grile monitor, the only objection may be
the two faint horizontal lines through the picture. I believ it uses the
Mitsubishi tube, which won a few awards in its day. Isnagged one for $450 about a
year ago, so it should be pretty cheap by now.

Subject: Floppy boot to linux-only scsi hardrive on Win95 PC?
Date: Sun, 04 Jul 1999 14:56:31 -0400

Hi folks, Is it a luxury to have a seperate disk dedicated to each OS
(95 & Linux) or am I just over-complicating things? Please tell me if
you have a better idea to accomplish this:

I have an old Acer Aspire P-90 Win95 PC.

The original IDE 1Gig hard drive is FULL of all Win95 stuff I'd like to
keep as-is; SO I have installed an Adaptec 1502 SCSI controller with a
Quantum XP32150 2Gig hard drive.

* I think I want the SCSI hard drive dedicated to Linux and the IDE hard
drive remain dedicated to Win95.
* I want the ability to transfer files between the two drives.
* I don't want to swap hardware to boot the other OS.

What's the best way to have both OSs co-exist?:

Can LILO be installed on my original drive, but most of Linux on the
SCSI drive? I have 10-50 MB I could give-up on the Win95 disk.

Boot from floppy when I want Linux running from SCSI hard drive?

Install a boot manager?
Which one? Any risks to my Win95 disk? Free?

Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions!
-John

PS: Please save the "Why keep 95 at all?" comments for another time. I
agree. Once I verify Linux works with ALL my hardware and teach my wife
Linux basics, I may ditch 95 altogeather.

This may be a duplicate post but. . .
WE HAVE IDENTICAL KERNAL, GHOASTSCRIPT & APSFILTER.
I ran your command
        lpr -Pstc740p.upp-ascii /etc/hosts
And it worked fine.
I'm guessing maybe you didn't change In /etc/printcap
        the device /dev/lp1 to /dev/lp0.

Check the Suse Support Database for the printer check list.

Also you still need to load stc740ih.upp and stc740pl.upp for the high
resolution stuff.
Hang in there, I worked about a month on this : )
You will get it!

I would start investigating on the print server, not the client. Check
to make sure that you still have access to the server. In particular,
ensure that the DNS is up and running and that your address is still
registered.

Hi all, I'm probably missing something (aside from the grey matter), but..

I installed a second Seagate ST34371 in my computer - same model as the one
I'm already using with no problems. I go in and "fdisk" it, writing a Sun
disklabel to it, but when I actually try to create a file system, I get a
"device not configured when trying to determine filesystem size" error.

The drives both are noted as being present in /var/log/dmesg, but that's
about as far as I'm getting.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

I guess you have a AOpen AX59Pro mainboard. It's a known BIOS bug.
Unfortunately the guys of AOpen don't want to give this a high scedule. Try to

Timeout problems in SCSI stuff are often due to too long cabling. Try to
shorten your cables in the SCSI chain.
