Hi Skip,
thanks for your quick response. I removed the append line from lilo. The
line
options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=none,none
already ecists in conf.modules, so this can`t be the error. Furthermore I
have configured the apsfilter with YAST,
I have checked the spool-path but I can`t figure out any mistake. If I send
a print-job from an editor or something
like that, the job goes to the lpd, but the printer do nothing, after a few
minutes the job will killed automatic (it will be
removed from the spool directory). I checked the printcaps many times it
seems all configured well.
So I think my problem will still exists:-(

Subject: IBM Deskstar 34GB/7200rpm Corruption problems
Date: 29 Feb 2000 13:17:19 -0600
We recently added two IBM Deskstar hard drives, the 34GB/7200rpm
model, to a Dell 410 dual P-III workstation. The OS was first
Mandrake 6.0 then 7.0.
The drives partition, mkfs with ext2 w/o any problems, and for
a while writing and reading data is OK. But then seemingly at random
the syslogs show messages of the form:
messages.1:Feb 20 04:03:07 kernel: EXT2-fs error (device ide0(3,65)): ext
2_readdir: bad entry in directory #2: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=0
, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0
messages.1:Feb 22 13:25:52 kernel: EXT2-fs error (device ide1(22,3)): ext
2_check_blocks_bitmap: Block #152 of the inode table in group 1314 is marked fre
e
and all files disappear from the disk. This is bad stuff. Reformatting
does not help, nor does putting the drives on separate channels, or
changing IDE cables, or upgrading the OS.

No such dir ? mmhm. You probably tried to type "cd au88xx*". The "*"
stands for the version number. If you're using a shell which support
auto-completion (bash for example), hit <TAB> after typing "cd au88". If
there is only one match, it will complete it for you. If there is more
than one, it will display you the matching files/folder. You'll see,
soon you won't be able not to use it. This is one of the cool things
under UNIXes.

It would help if you say when exactly in the installation you get this
message. Did you configure something at this time ?
I'm not sure I can help, but the more you say about your problem, the
more people might be able to help you.
for your last question, I think it could be supported, if you're not to
hungry about graphic stuff (don't even think about KDE or Gnome).

that's an header file -i.e. ,part of the sources of something. You
should probably edit another file, like /etc/X11/XF86Config. Read the
manual page (man XF86Config). You can also try to run the XF86Setup
program : easy to use, helpful in most case !
But, still, a silly question :are you sure this is a serial mouse and
that the protocole is supported ? Usually, all serial mice are, but...

LILO has to be installed under the 1024th cylinder (probably 8GB) make a
partition of about 20 MB under the 8GB mark and set it as /boot. Then
it should work.

not a process that is doing i/o, but swaping, probably. How much RAM do

Subject: Lprng + IFHP Weirdness...duplicate output on print job
Date: 29 Feb 2000 19:47:13 GMT
Hi All,
Just setup LPRng-3.6.12 on a RH6.1 box and was configuring ifhp-3.3.10
to print to an HP8100dn.
It's working fine with the one troubling exception:
If I print 2 jobs rapidly, the 1st job is getting printed twice.
Ex. lpr foo.txt ; lpr bar.txt
Generates 2 copies of foo.txt.
I've checked the logs, and a2ps is getting spawned on the 1st job
twice.
Setup, and negotiation between the print server and the printer appear
to be working flawlessly.
There are only 2 files queued to the spool directory and everything
looks like it's working with the exception of this duplicate job.
I've rtfm'd for lprng and ifhp, and checked dejanews, but don't see
any mention of similar problems.
I'm guessing that this is something simple.
All suggestions appreciated.
I'm at the point where I'm willing to hack together my own filter, but
since IFHP appears to have such nice features, I'd prefer to use it.
