Subject: New PCTel HSP Modem driver - Works with Zoltrix
Hello.
There is a new driver for PCTel based modems.
This driver works with Zoltrix Phantom 56K FM-HSP56PCI, and may work
with other PCTel based modems.
Download it from-
http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/pctel/hsp56-linux-1.tar.gz

Howdy
I am in desperate need of low-level hardware programming specs for the
Avance Logic ALS120 chipset soundcard! The Avance Logic (http://avance.com)
technical guys laughed me off saying they were discontinuing the product -
but we have a few hundred of them laying around destined for a certain
JukeBox / embedded system product we sell.
I've written drivers for vanilla SB16 and the ISA ESS chipsets and all is
well with those however availability of those here in South Africa is
non-existant!
Any information, useful links or email addresses of OSS developers who have
coded anything like this would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance! Please mail your reply if possible:

No. This is a winmodem, and there's no hope to see a driver
released by the manufacturer anytime soon. Junk it.

A command like
# telinit q
or
# init -q
will make a running "init" process reparse the /etc/inittab file.
Consult the man page for init for details.

Hello,
does the Epson Stylus Color 760 work with Linux ?
I'm using the distribution Suse 6.2, my kernel is compiled with all
the stuff needed to print. I often use a hp laserjet 600L which works
fine...
But when I configured "Stylus Color", all my attemps to print anything
failed. So I'd like to know if it is a printer designed only for
Windows,
or do I have to make an update in Linux ?

Just got a k6-2, running my old harddisk.\No way can I get other graphics then
VGA16 with my S3Trio3D/2X, downloading xfree.4 (yes its on www.xfree.org),
that seems to support it.
HOWEVER this is an AGP card?
Cannot find anything on AGP in the kernel sources.
Does the BIOS handle this?
Or do I have to start writing it ?

Hi,
I have just created a boot disk for my 486 Zeos SCSI system
with 16 megs of memory by two different methods and
both give me the same error which is kernel panic. What is kernel
panic and how to I solve the problem.
One method is mkbootdisk and the other is to copy the kernel
to the floppy and then do rdev /dev/fd0 /dev/sda1

Subject: Solved! Getting Adaptec AIC-6320 SCSI Chip on Motherboard Working
Date: Sat, 18 Mar 2000 09:32:14 -0500
Hi,
I wanted to report how I got my system working with
an onboard old Adaptec SCSI chip and a SCSI cdrom and hard drive
and backup tape unit. With Redhat 6.1.
On the install it asks if your cdrom is a SCSI. There is a place
to check to be able to add scsi parameters. I put in the following:
aha152x=0x340,11,7
And in a few seconds the cdrom started winding up and the
install continued and completed.
The 0x340 is the hardware address of the adapter, which could
be gotten by using a program that explores the system hardware
and gives a listing of what it found. Windows msd is an example.
The 11 is the irq and the 7 is the scsi id number. I think it needs
to be 7 because it is the adapter device.

I am trying to use my Zip 250 under RH 6.1. I had it working fine under
RH 5.2 using the imm module. Now under 6.1 when I try to load the imm
module it fails.
Here is the result of lsmod before I load the imm module:

Here is the message I get when loading the imm module:

Here is the output from dmesg after the imm load:
imm: Version 2.03 (for Linux 2.0.0)

Here is another lsmod after the attempted imm load:

Hi Folks
I upgraded my memory from 64 to 128M.
(System: NMC 5VMMX Rev1.0 with K6-II-500 at 100MHz busclock)
The old DIMM is a 100MHz an the new one is a 133MHz. After trouble of getting
the system to boot (BIOS couldnd handle the new bar -> bank-DIMM-combinations
changed, BIOS flashed) all seems fine. (BIOS counts the full Memory, MS DOS
starts and believes having 128MB (didnt test W95 because of the K6-bug)) When I
am starting Linux it only works with the mem-option <= 64M, higher values (or no
option) cause the kernel the following:
Memory: 127680k/131072k (1240k kernel, 412k reserved, 1676k data, 64k init, 0k
big)
kmem-alloc: Bad slab magic (corrupt) name=kmem_cache
canot create uid taskcount SLAB cache
..
I played with the BIOSsetting but nothing seems to work:
(no BIOS or VGA rom cached, AGP 2x, no DIMM autodedection, with/without cache,
fast/slow DIMM timing, with/without paging, ..)
CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?
Tanx
Ciao Daniel

Mandrake 7
Dell latitude CPiR 400 laptop (18 GB hdd, PII 400, 256 MB RAM)
32 MB Linux /BOOT partition at beginning of drive, 2 GB Win98 partition, 2
GB Winnt partition, 3 GB Linux native partition.
NeoMagic 2360 MagicMedia 256ZX vid card with 4096K memory
Install goes fine until X config. I choose LCD display @ 1024 X 768 (card
supports it).
I choose Neomagic card from list of adapters (only neomagic on the list)
Set resolution to any or all of the choices.
No Go. I keep getting kicked out saying basically that the settings are
wrong or the card is not present in system.
If I say screw it and continue with final stage of install and reboot I end
up with a display which shows me about one tenth of the actual screen with
icons as big as smoke packs!!
Anyone know if there exists a card/monitor /resolution in the install list
which will work?? Or is there another way to get half decent resolution out
of this laptop? Maybe I can install using an external laptop and configure
using XF86Config later? Help!
I'm still a newbie to this whole Linux scene but learning.
post reply or email. Thanks very much in advance.
