HI,
I'am not sure of the concerned group ...?
Can i record a TV-program with a MATROX G 400 TV on a Linux Box ?
My problem is to record periodically a TV program on (little) video file
server and to read it
on MacOs or window$ boxes with programs like Quicktime.
Are there drivers and programs that permit to do something like that :
(the program is suppose to be name "vcr")
Instant record:
vcr --channel=cable --duration=30minutes </dev/matroxg400tv \
>/var/videoflash/2000091500
Periodic record :
with a crontab entry
0 9 * * 1 /usr/bin/vcr --channel=cable --duration=30minutes
</dev/matroxg400tv \
>/var/videonews/2000091500
same without crontab entry
vcr --channel=cable --period=week --day=Monday --begin=09:00
--end=09:30 \
--device=/dev/matroxg400tv >/var/videonews/2000091500
Thanks,
Christian

Subject: sb.o in 2.4.0test8
Is support for the soundblaster 16 broken in 2.4.0test7/8. Whether I
compile sb support into the kernel or as a module, it always fails to
load. I have a non-pnp genuine soundblaster 16. The module always
fails to load saying that I specified the wrong io/irq/etc. The
parameters are correct though. The module loads fine with 2.3.99preX
kernels and 2.2 kernels. Has there been a change to the 2.4 kernels
that requires some special configuration for sound, or a change to the
modules.conf? If I compile sb support into the kernel and specify the
parameters to the kernel it also fails to detect the card.
I'm using modutils 2.3.16. I updated from 2.3.15 because 2.3.15 had
trouble finding the dependencies for usb modules. everything else works
fine.
Any thoughts?
Alex

Hi!
I've got problems with my scanner microtek scanmaker 630.
I successfully installed the included adaptec scsi card
under SUSE 6.4. (driver aha152x).
scanimage -L gives the correct output.
But if I try to scan with xscanimage, the scanner hangs.
First the scanner moves for some seconds then stops and
after a while moves again. Then nothing works until I
switch off the scanner.
I allready installed the latest version of sane (1.0.3) but
without success.
Maybe someone has an idea...
Thanks
Matthias
PS: The scanner works without problems with Windows98 and
scanwizard...

Chaparral makes the only "host independent", Ultra160m, RAID
controller that i'm aware of
this means that the RAIDs we build using them require NO
drivers since, when hooked to your SCSI chain, your computer
will see the RAID as one (or more, depending on your config)

2 things... You can boot the setup floppy with the option:
linux x86_serial_nr=1
this will turn of the serial number probe and deactivate.
2nd, I am building a very similar system, but I'm having trouble with
linux not letting me install lilo into the mbr of my ATA drive
(/dev/hde). I don't have bootable drives on first or second ide port
(just cdrom and ls120. but I do have a scsi card which linux wants to
install its bootloader onto. How can I fix this?

The master boot record (aka MBR or partition table) is not the
superblock. FDISK/MBR will probably not fix it, if this is actually
what your problem is.
The superblock starts 1024 bytes into the device and is 1024 bytes long
(which is sectors 2 and 3 on a typical PC hard drive). The MBR is
sector zero.
(Source: Ext2fs-overview-0.1.sgml, from the ext2ed package.)
When you format an Ext2fs partition, copies of the superblock are placed
at various locations on the disk. The ext2ed utility can be used to
fetch one of these copies and copy it over the active one.
Be sure to read the documentation carefully before doing anything. You
can seriously trash your disk if you make a mistake with ext2ed.

What are some of these other locations? I tried to run e2fsck and it

That should work fine by putting it in one of the rackmount

It not going to fit in 1U chassis, but 4U will do. The 2U
