I just purchased a 15 inch LCD (brand Nec/Misubishi 1525) and it
is better than the large 19 inch monitor it replaced - clearer pixels
and brighter colors plus does not take lage space and weight 40 lbs)
Connector is same as for CRT monitor and everything seems to be plug and
play otherwise. 15 inch LCD screen area is really 15 inches.

I believe that card is supported by the eepro100 driver. Try adding
alias eth0 eepro100
to your conf.modules file, or
modprobe eepro100
to test it.

Two common SCSI problems are a bad driver, in which case you should try a
newer kernel, or possibly a flakey SCSI cable.

The eth0 error is usually a kernel driver bug. When in doubt, try a newer
kernel. Since 7.0 didn't come with a 2.2.18 final, I'd get a copy from
ftp.kernel.org.

Which distro are you using? Some compile aic7xxx into the installation

All linksys cards that I know of are supported under the 'tulip' driver.
When you run the make command, make sure you are in the right directory,
if that still doesn't work, try dropping in the tulip.c or ne2000.c file
you got from linksys into a kernel source try under drivers/net

This was the sort of ultra-cheap crap where the manufacturer will usually
not admit to having manufactured it, and you have to search the "manual"
long and hard until you find a company name, in 3pt font, on the second-to-last
page.
I have no idea what company or brand. I never cared. Heck, I didn't even
try to get the silly thing to work under Windows --- my office mates did,
for some reason. This is an office full of people with graduate CS students,
all with more than enough experience with Windows. No go. Who cares?

At least Win98 falls over itself quite happily, too, when it encounters
hardware that is just a tad out of the ordinary.

Uhm --- how would a "default gateway problem with Madrake" explain why
my Windows installation puked all over its routing tables, and then refused
my attempts to clean them up?
As for Mandrake --- it correctly found both my network cards, asked for the
TCP/IP configuration, including the gateway, set it all up, and has been
running perfectly ever since. I am not quite sure what "default gateway
problem" you are talking about, but whatever it is, it seems not to manifest
itself on my system.

"numbero uno" return item.
Should I repost the article providing the details and quotes? It's not
even half a year old; Heck, Deja will still have it.

But I'm still having the same problems that I had with Windows for
Workgroups. Thats sad. 6 years and still can't fix the bugs.
Unfortunately, IT types are still buying Windows.

Unfortunately, the correct answer is YEP. You might win, Intel might
loose, but in the meantime, who has money to pay for lawyers? I would
suggest contacting Intel and clearing it with them first. Otherwise post
the code as "anonymous coward" somewhere from a cybercafe.

Subject: Linux and system incompatibility problems
Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2000 00:30:03 -0000
I downloaded the winlinux2000 demo version to try it out before I
purchased anything. It would not detect my video card so I had to "force"
set it under standard vga. (My video card is a standard xf86_SVGA intel
chipset driver. The picture was absolutly lousy and broken up. I searched
for a different card/driver that would be compatible but was informed that
my card was probably intregrated into my mother board. ( I have a HP
XE743) Now this machine is a cheaper product I know, however it is fairly
new and I would like to run Linux without going off and buying another
system. Is it possible? Are there any Linux programs that will run on my
computor? I only found 1 intel video card on the acceptables list for auto
configuration in linux 2000. Does this apply to all linux or just
winlinux2000?
Any answers will be greatly appreciated

I'm not familiar with your motherboard, but some motherboards with
onboard video will reserve a few megabytes at the end of RAM for video
memory. Try specifying 255, 248 etc.
