Modem problem

I have installed RH LINUX 5.2 on the same machine that run windows 98.
I have no problems connecting to the internet with a Cirus Logic CL-5600
modem (jumperless).

After following this ng for some time I understand that this type of modem
is not supported by Linux.

Can someone pls confirm my conclusion?
