this gcc should have no problem compiling a 2.4 kernel - as far as i know
(unless its a specific problem with the 2.4.2 kernel, which i realy
doubt). you're probably answering someone else's question ;) (which is
not a bad idea as long as you mentin that this's what you're probably
doing).
besides, using gcc 2.96 at all - isn't that against the recommendation of
the GNU folks?
