Hi,
No, of course not RH (I never used RH). It's my good old SuSE 6.0
hand-patched to newer versions. Anyway, last night I downgraded the glibc
to 2.1.3 and tried again. make is version 3.79 (the latest).
Now make dep fails after the ext2 seemingly when making dep on fat:
make -C ext2 fastdep
make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs/ext2'
/usr/src/linux/scripts/mkdep acl.c balloc.c bitmap.c dir.c file.c fsync.c
ialloc.c inode.c ioctl.c namei.c super.c symlink.c > .depend
make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs/ext2'
make -C fat fastdep
make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs/fat'
make[4]: *** No rule to make target `fastdep'. Stop.
make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs/fat'
make[3]: *** [_sfdep_fat] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs'
make[2]: *** [fastdep] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/fs'
make[1]: *** [_sfdep_fs] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.2'
make: *** [dep-files] Error 2
My relevant .config entries are like this:
# File systems
#
# CONFIG_QUOTA is not set
CONFIG_AUTOFS_FS=m
CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS=m
CONFIG_REISERFS_FS=y
# CONFIG_REISERFS_CHECK is not set
# CONFIG_ADFS_FS is not set
# CONFIG_AFFS_FS is not set
# CONFIG_HFS_FS is not set
# CONFIG_BFS_FS is not set
CONFIG_FAT_FS=m
CONFIG_MSDOS_FS=m
# CONFIG_UMSDOS_FS is not set
CONFIG_VFAT_FS=m
# CONFIG_EFS_FS is not set
CONFIG_JFFS_FS_VERBOSE=0
CONFIG_CRAMFS=m
CONFIG_RAMFS=m
CONFIG_ISO9660_FS=y
CONFIG_JOLIET=y
CONFIG_MINIX_FS=m
which seems 100% normal for me.
Any ideas ?
Schlomo
PS: The previous problem might be related to my games with glibc versions
etc. I think I solved them now since now make fails with a proper error
message instead of just getting stuck. Btw, my tmp usually has several G
free so I don't expect a problem there anytime soon.
