Basic as what? as pop3/IMAP4? or you mean more then that?

As much as I heard from a friend of mine in USA who implemented Lotus notes 
server on Linux - he's pretty satisfied.

As for Lotus notes client - you'll need Wine and the win32 binaries. It works.

Client - Bynari Client - their 2.6 version which is now free - could be 
helpful. Donno about hebrew, I think it's built with Motif, so I really don't 
know about Hebrew.
