Hi all, I have a linux box i installed a month ago. everything worked perfectly, it was a redhat 7.2 with ext3 partition. then i wanted to add some irc dcc feature that for some reason didn't work in the redhat kernel, so i downloaded 2.4.17 and compiled like usual, no real problem. then i started to use the new kernel for 30 min, and then it stuck. so ok, i said, np lets get back to the old kernel, and so i did. and after 10 min it also got stuck! what?!, damn. so i started pulling out hardware, replacing stuff. maybe its that p200 old hardware i said. but after a while i gave up and moved the linux h.d to a different p100 computer and the same problem occured. After 5-10 min the linux gets stuck. my guess is that 2.4.17 did something to the journaling system, although the check at the start of the booting process finishes cleanly and don't find anything wrong ( i mean it actuall scans, not only "ok"). also, many times it got stuck in that scanning process.
what could be the problem. i mean, its definitely connected to the h.d or the partition, since 2 different kernels on a completely different computers get it to stuck. * - * - * Tzahi Fadida [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fax (+1 Outside the US) 240-597-3213 * - * - * - * - * - * ================================================================To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
