i think you have some confusion regarding what is 'the item'. is it 'linux
contains illegal software', or is it 'some web site/paper reported that
linux contains illegal software'? if its the first - then a reporter needs
to verify what they publish before they publish it - otherwise, reporters
would just make up stories and publish them - easier then verifying the
story. i think what gilad protested against was that you posted a story
without verifying the information to be valid. if you have what seems to
be a story, but then while verifying it you find it has no bases, you
don't insist on publishing it, cause that'll be publishing a lie.
