Sure - the BIOS on the laptop for some reason only boots into specific versions of the ISO9660 standart - with Rock Ridge, 8.3, with trans.tbl, Juliet (which isn't even ISO9660 I think but never mind) or some other. it is possible in that case that you loopback mount the ISO image and recreate an ISO with a 'compatiable' format with the same content and this should work.
