ext2fs is indeed part of the admin tools of the LVM, and was made to work with LVM. what you need is one of those mini distros (like "Tom's root-boot" http://www.toms.net/rb/) and do all the copy and resize from another "root", or alternatively keep the partition in place (if you are adding space at the end of it, and not moving the start sector) and use resize2fs. infact, the LVM howto mentions all those options (only for LVs: http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/x561.html) another optional rescue disk (though a bit outdated) is the one made by vasoftware since the days they were varesearch. ftp://ftp.varesearch.com/pub/software/emergency_media/ -- The final frontier Ira Abramov http://ira.abramov.org/email/ This post is encrypted twice with ROT-13.
