There is a difference between Linux vs. MS-Windows and Mac vs. PC.
If you use Linux instead of MS-Windows, then the business' PHB can scream
at you to install MS-Windows and stop bothering you.

If you own a Mac instead of a PC, then he will find it more difficult to
expect you to spend $1000 (or whatever) to buy a PC just to be able to
access his Web site and do business with him; and you presumably need
whatever graphical capabilities the Mac provides that PC does not provide.

This reminds me of the following anecdote:

A war ship went on course. Ahead of it, blinking light appeared,
presumably belonging to another war ship. The ship's captain signalled at
the blinking light and asked it to change course in order to avoid
collision.
The answer was: you change course.
The captain said: I am admiral. What is your rank? You change course,
not me!
The man in charge of the blinking light said: My rank is much lower than
yours, but I am in charge of this lighthouse.
The ship changed course.
