I don't have anything against Gilad, and indeed believe that he did an
excellent job overall. And it may well be that the forum *needed* a
"free as in freedom" presence to counterbalance the very practical
approaches of the folks from Sun and the government.

But I still would have liked to hear more of an overview of where
things have come from, and where they're going -- and why an amuta is
necessary and good. (I happen to think that Hamakor is one of the
best things that has happened to open-source/free software in Israel
for a while, and I have a great deal of respect for the organizers.)

I haven't ever used OpenOffice.org in Hebrew, so I can't tell you from
personal experience. But my (wild, speculative) guess is that
difficult features like footnotes, tables, and integrated graphics
aren't quite there yet. I have no doubt that the OOo project will
move ahead rapidly in the coming months to produce something that is
of excellent quality in the near future. Indeed, I've been telling
people for *years* that good Hebrew support for Linux is just six
months away; I'm happy to see that my predictions might actually come
true this time!
