Hello, I have a few notes and suggestions regarding the Linux.org.il site:
[1] The WEB Sites section on the main page should also include links to Israeli LUGs. I know of two of them that are nowhere to be seen on the site: Telux - Tel Aviv's LUG: http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/telux/ JLC - The Jerusalem Linux Club: http://jlc.iglu.org.il/ There might be more of them i don't know about, but deserve a representation on the main Linux site in Israel. [2] I think there should be a kind of a DB denoting the Linux-friendliness of Israeli WEB sites. A table with a URL, the company / institute name and some kind of a voting system to publish the Linux-friendliness of the said site. This system should help me, the Israeli Linux user, to find out how to use that site with my Linux box, i.e.: Which browsers are able to show the site problem-free (if any). For instance, I happen to know Orange's site is almost %95 usable using the latest Opera browser version. This system will achieve two main goals: An easy to use reference for the Israeli Linux user. A way to apply some pressure on the companies to change there attitudes regarding their WEB site's policies. If no cry is heard, no one knows / cares there's a problem at hand. I know that the organic nature of the Linux OS creates replacement solutions, such as Haifux's Alon Altman solution for querying Egged's site for Bus time tables (http://alon.wox.org/egged.html). Still, it would be nice to open a WEB browser and access the sites as painless as possible. I stress this point: it is important to make such a DB public, so pressure can be effectively applied on the respective companies and make a change, which brings me to the next issue: [3] Wouldn't it nice to have a monthly gazette for the IGLUs? Something similar to the Linux Gazette available on the LDP's site (http://linuxgazette.net/) An on-line (or even a hardcopy ?) to keep us updated with what's hot and what's not on the Israeli Linux arena. Maybe a comic strip to go along with it. I know something like that exists on Whatsup, but still. It will make it an independent reporter regarding the Israeli Linux project's status, and it should be hosted on linux.org.il so it is available to every one, especially those how are just passing by Linuxes site. It will make it easier to publish the WEB sites DB. I guess you catch my drift... Well, that's all I have for now. I am willing to contribute my time for research, due to the fact I am currently unemployed and have much free time on my hands. Thanks, Amichai Rotman, The Jerusalem Linux Club - Founder. ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
