Note that VNC's security sucks (cleartext passwords, unencrypted traffic),

Actually that's exactly what I'd like to do with my mom's
Windows XP - Install a VNC server on the Windows machine and
connect to it from my Linux to help her over the net.
I found instructions for setting up RealVNC over Cygwin's ssh
but when I try to connect to the ssh server on the Windows from
the command window (e.g. "ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]") it doesn't let me
in (says "permission denied" after I type my password).
I later found that TightVNC might be better, and instructions
for setting it up on top of ssh but that was too late for yesterday
and I'll have to try it some other time.
(Sorry the URL's are on my mom's computer so I can't give them here).
Anyway - to my question - does anyone here have hands-on experience
with VNC server on Windows XP accessible from Linux (debian testting,
for that matter) through an SSH tunnel?
Thanks,
