Why don't U try just plain 'XFree86 -configure' ? It does an automatic
probe and generates the config file for U. U have to copy this file
after renaming to XF86Config to /etc/X11.

I am trying the Frame Buffered server and it is mind blowing. The
performance parameters are really superb and no CPU cycles are hogged.
XFree86-4.0 is a must have to solve all UR X hassles.

The filesystem hierarchy followed by XFree86-4.0 is close to
Debian GNU/Linux and now U have to watch out /etc/X11.
