I have used XFree86 -configure and the XF86Config file was automatically generated. I have copied this to /etc/X11/XF86Config and now I am able to get the GUI in 640x480 mode. I am now trying to use 1024x768 mode that i have been using thus far at a depth of 8. I have added the line under Section Screen, SubSection Display Modes "1024x768" ViewPort 0 0. However I am not able to get 1024x768 depth. I have read man XF86Config but I am unable to determine what is overriding my settings. Any help will be appreciated.
