 I assume you are usimg RHL, type linux single at lilo prompt. Boot into
single mode and edit /etc/inittab to change the default runlevel to 3.

There will be line something similar to id:3:xxxxx. I do not remember
exactly..

Here the no. 3 specifies the runlelvel.
 If you look into the file, you will get all the definitions of runlevel
your distribution is using. So you can change it even if you are not using
RHL.

 Save the file and reboot. It should boot into normal mode. If not mail
back.

 Please correct me if I am incorrect/wrong..
