Enter FAQ-O-Matic. IIRC, Mrinal Kalakrishnan already posted
about this long, long, long ago... If you're -really- interested, please
re-read the email that Mrinal posted. It maintains a dynamic FAQ,
which can be modified by different people simaltaneously, and its
configurable enough so the administrator/owner can say, "trust
*whatever* ravi says and put it in the FAQ" and "distrust *whatever*
suresh ramasubramaniam says (<<grin>>) and bounce it" ... and IIRC , I
think it can even support different "levels" of maintenance as in,
"let suresh be admin of sendmail related stuff" ... and "let ravi be
admin of blah" ..and the respective sub admin can add more users,
etc. etc. obviously the whole thing works on a lot of trust..
At this point, I volunteer to take up maintenance of some
sections, if need be. As for technical content, I can't
guarantee... but I will do my best... I can handle all the stuff on a
"beginner's guide to linux" bit as in, setting up ppp0,eth0 ... samba?
.... stuff... the works ... of course, with useful contributions from
list members,archives,experience,manuals.
I'm sure Thaths' is already super-overloaded with
stuff... <shrug> this can work out (maintaining FAQ-o-matic) if there
are more volunteers... I remember Suresh offering to maintain/write up
some stuff on Sendmail/MTA/blah , and Binand, about some other stuff..
Basically the ball is now in the rest of the peoples' court
... Lets just not have a lot of people mailing the list with "I wanna
help, too" and leaving the rest of this 30-odd sentences in tact .. if
you -really- wanna volunteer .. come up with more concrete plans as in
"I will maintain so-and-so" ... and if you like, to reduce
traffic/spam(?) on the list, you can email me at :
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and I offer to consolidate all the info and
post one huge/grand/long email with who's volunteering to do what
... in case you're interested, email me at that address before May 12
or so ... beyond which I dont suppose anyone would even remember all
this .. and if the turn out is cool, we can con Thaths' into setting
up FAQ-O-Matic blah blah ...
Biju> dropped out. I know a lot of people in Blr who are not on
Biju> this list because they can't handle the volume.
Then they probably deserve to. "People stupid enough not to
RTFM don't deserve the goodies" .... For christ's sake, *please* read
what majordomo emails you when you join the list ... it says some key
stuff about digests ... and read what majordomo2 can do... it handles
digest stuff *much* better .... **exasperation** ...
Well, I officially give up too ... if people can't be bothered
reading what's important, when everyone's screaming themselves hoarse
... <shrug> ...
Have a nice day
