Hi all,

Does anyone here know how to get a "crypt"ed password on a
gnu/linux box that has MD5 + shadow setup? The problem I have is related
to CVS.
I am setting a cvs pserver, which needs that
$CVSROOT/CVSROOT/passwd file. The cvs doc says I need to put in passwords
in that file, and suggests to cut paste them from /etc/passwd. Now my
machine (and all gnu/linux machines I know) use MD5. So I can't just
cut-paste. Moreover, if I don't create the $CVSROOT/CVSROOT/passwd, cvs
tries looking into /etc/passwd and fails due to shadow.
Does anyone know how to get around this situation - other than the
trivial solution of setting up a box w/o MD5???

        Regards,
        Kedar.
