None of the above will work for the following reasons :

1) The angle quotes will be interpreted by bash as I/O redirection 
   operators.
2) The -f option in mail doesn't mean "use the specified from address" - 
   the parameter following it is the filename which "mail" treats as the
   inbox. man mail for details.
   
AFAIK mail doesn't have any option to change the 'from" address.
