No I am not _completely_ sure but it looks that way since
1. /proc/pci output shows HCF (see below for full output)
2. the windows drivers are huge
3. the device could not be configured using setserial (setserial gives no
errors but trying to use the device leads to input output errors)
4. specific requirements list Pentium 133 or higher (no windows though)
5. Modem is not on the linux modem compatibility database 2000-5-29 list
http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html
(DFM560EC (external) is listed and I'm willing to guess E=external,
I=internal, S=software)
6. Rockwell HCF chipset for PCI is listed as winmodem but supported (I
could not match the chip numbers as the sticker on the chip could not be
removed)

can you find out and tell me the number of the 56.6k D-link internal PCI
modem that you saw was working with linux?
also any help will be appreciated.
and BTW since the 560IS is not working, this mail comes to you through
both a D-Link SN3200 NIC and a DMF336/E external modem and they are real
good.
TIA
