Hello Suresh
Thanks for the suggestion, I did the
following changes, since my knowledge of Linux is
limited. please check it,

;;maybe your ISP has a different system of
;;domain logon - you might want to experiment withuser
;;passuser@domain pass

I have a VSNL account in pune and in my /etc/ppp/
both the file pap-secrets and chap secrets have the
following

# client server secret ip address
 XXX@pn2 * XXXX

passuser@domain pass
user@fqdn pass

;"sysquery: sendto([192.36.148.17].53): Network
is>unreachable ".
;Are you behind a firewall / proxy? NAT is going bad
in your case.
;Tweak ipchains / ipfwadm to make your _public_ ip
visible outside the network.
;192.168. is non routable ip space.

  for this i did ipchains -F, ipchains -X;

;;^[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/bs/BUILD/bind-8.2.1/src/bin/named
;;Hmmm... so you have a DNS problem also. Fix it will
you?-

I made the changes in /etc/resolv.conf files to
          nameserver 192.168.0.3
          nameserver 202.54.1.30
          nameserver 202.54.10.17

is this the correct way to resolve DNS problem ?

           thanks
               Joseph John
