Great going! (Please don't quote unrelated messages and please set the
subject line appropriately. It's always better to write a fresh
message, instead of replying to another.)

What is the "linux documentation"? And how are you trying to access
it? Try loading the file /usr/doc/LDP/install-guide/index.html from
Netscape or some other browser. It's a "getting started" guide to
linux. Many other documents are available in the /usr/doc/HOWTO
hierarchy.

Go to the site http://www.alsa-project.org/. There are three links
there to the latest stable version of the drivers, lib and utils.
Oops, I just remembered - I think I saw the alsa drivers on this
months PCQ CD. Search for it, I think it's in some directory related
to i810.

Run "python" to run it in interactive mode. Eg:
$ python
Python 1.5.2 (#1, Sep 17 1999, 20:15:36) [GCC egcs-2.91.66
19990314/Linux (egcs- on linux-i386
Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam
>>> print 1+2
3
>>> <Ctrl-D>
$
Press Ctrl-D to terminate it. Go to http://www.python.org/ to learn
more. The python documentation will most probably be available on your
hard disk as /usr/doc/python-docs-x.x.x/

Actually, there is hordes of documentation available on your hard
disk. Check out /usr/doc/HOWTO/DOS-Win-to-Linux-HOWTO for starters.
Documentation for individual programs can be obtained in
/usr/doc/<programname>, and the commands "man <programname>" and "info
<programname>".
HTH..

Sigh. I like to think it's just the Linux people who want to be on
the "leading edge" so bad they walk right off the precipice.
