how do we control which daemons to start at boot time ? is all the script
files in /etc/rc.d/init.d are executed one by one for starting daemonms
and removing the particular script from this directory will work ? tried
killing the particular daemon after getting the daemon pid , but after
stopping it restarts immediately.( using kill -9 PID). i am trying to
stop httpd to start as a standalone-daemon. brute force method could be
commenting
# daemon httpd
from httpd script file, removing /usr/sbin/httpd , but surely there should
be some standard way of doing this ..

anticipating replies..

   thinking ........
