The filesystem has to tell LILO, how it allocated the "vmlinuz" file
on the disk. Therefore, LILO works with only those filesystems, which
have this (rather unnecessary, IMO) capability.
Most other OSes (including FreeBSD) come with a loader which can read
the filesystem.
