Compile a new kernel /extract it from the SuSE rpm. If you download the
kernel patches, you could then go for the latest stable kernel then.
Copy the kernel to your boot directory and manually create a lilo.conf
and run lilo. Anybody who can understand a sendmail.cf should be able
to do this with his eyes closed. :-)
Seriously, there is something seriously wrong with your system IMHO.
Both RH upgrade and SuSE install not going smoothly.... Maybe, you
should investigate that first.
