Hi all
Some days back, I posted a problem that the kernel was not getting compiled on
my AMD K6II 500.
There were many suggestions and they turned out to be much useful. But real
problem was very fundamental. The CPU cooling was not enough and CPU temp. was
very high, around 60 degrees.
I kept the cabinet open and put an external fan and it worked. In first shot. To
confirm I triggered many more compiles and they worked too. Without a single
error.
Also machine is noticably faster than earlier.
Thanks for everybody's help.
Here are the result.
Machine-:
CPU : AMD K6 II 500MHz
Mobo. : Sis. 100MHz FSB.
Display card : Sis 530 4MB, On board
RAM : 64 MB 100 MHz
Compile result
1)Kernel 2.2.12-20, Stock RHL 6.1, PCQ, Nov. 99. Compilatio for K6 CPUs. :
6.29 Minutes.
2)Qt-2.1.1 : 24 Minutes.
I compiled lyx and KDE2 also. KDE2 compilation is not finished yet. But even
after 4.5 hours of continous compilation, no problem at all.
Thanks all for help...
Bye
Shridhar
