That was the line which enables the sound module which comes with kernel 2.2.16 -
alsa is better so I commented it out.
My RH 6.2 has "alsasound" as one of the "enableable" services - maybe initialising
it at boot could help? - just a thought - try it. In any case, I can use my i810
ac 97 sound card w/o any trouble alsasound enabled or not.
