Hi Amarendra:

In one of the setups I just change the file .wm_style in the users'
directory (remember the leading dot). For example, if I as root want to use
AfterStep, i change the file in /root/.wm_style and enter the word
AfterStep in it. This is a plain text file. However, there is another
setup in which this doesn't work. You need to change it in the .xinitrc
file in the users' directory.

Can someone explain to me why this is so?

Vasanth
