Hi Manish:

This is exactly the way I have it on my PC. The primary master is Win95
and the secondary master is RH 6.1. It boots into Win95 by default. If I
want to get into Linux, I start Win95 into the command prompt (not a DOS
session under Win) and there is a batch file like this:
=========
cd\linux
loadlin.exe c:\linux\vmlinuz2 root=/dev/hda7
=========

The files loadlin.exe is the Linux Loader available in RH distribution in
the Dosutils directory. vmlinuz2 is the image file (you will have to copy
this from your /boot directory of the Linux system. /dev/hda7 refers to
the secondary master on my system. The number may differ for your system.
 This works fine. You may also get a boot up menu by modifying the
msdos.sys and config.sys files. See DOS manual for details. This will
give a menu at boot up and you can choose the OS. Loadlin is safe and
works like a charm.

I prefer my setup because it prevents my children from getting into Linux
by mistake and they are still too young for it, although I am sure they
will get sick of Win soon.

Subject: [LIH] Installing Linux and Windows on 2 different hard disks

Hi All,

I have a intel PC with 2 HDDs and a CD ROM drive. I want to install
Windows 98(or NT) on one of the HDDs and Linux on the other one. Is it
possible to do so. If yes, how should I go about it and how should I
configure the two HDDs and the CD ROM.

Which of the two HDDs are to be connected to the Primary and Secondary
IDEs ?

Also, my PC has a Macronix MX86200 PCI VGA Card. What would be the
settings for this card. Are the required drivers available ?

TIA,

Manish
