IP addresses to use which work with almost any internet connect are:
resolv.conf file should read as
# this is for vsnl nameservers
nameserver 202.54.1.30
nameserver 202.54.15.30
# other nameservers are 202.54.4.18 202.54.1.18
# this is for Net4india
nameserver 202.71.129.33
#another is 202.71.128.37
#Do not use more than 3 nameserver entries
#Linux gurus correct me if I am wrong
