Hi,

Check the HP printer's documentation also,
specially under the section to configure the 
printer under UNIX environment.

I too have configured a HP Jetdirect printer
according to the HP's manual.
There may be atleast 3 ways to configure the
Jetdirect interface, namely

1.DHCP
2.BOOTP
3.Telnet/RARP

I personally prefer the 3rd one
