Hi,
We have got here few remote boot clients who are remote booting to the netware server.
On the netware server the GT software which we are using to connect to the SCO server
is using rarpd ( reverse address resolution daemon on the SCO server ).
On SCO we have got two files :
1. hosts file contains the mapping of ip addresses to hostname :
<ip address> <hostname> of all the remote boot machines
2. ethers file which contains mapping of ethernet card address to hostname:
<ethernet card address> <hostname>
The rarpd daemon uses both these files.
The GT software has got a ini file which contains and entry as follows ( This is on
netware server).
MYIP RARP
In case of dos clients which have got GT software on their hard drive we change the
above line in gt.ini as
MYIP <static ip address allocated to the machine>
What is the equivalent of RARPD under Linux and How can we accomplish out objective of
allowing these remote clients login access to linux machine through Netware. Netware
is coming into picture here because the boot roms are for netware and these clients
don't have any floppy drives.
Is using BOOTP solution for this ? Which RPM contains the BOOTP if it is possible to
above thing using bootp.
Thanks for reading this long mail.
Waiting for your reply.
Regards
Rajesh
