[LIH] How to install & configure dial up connection ?

Hi,

        I'm having linux on my machine and I'm having a modem along with
me. I would like to how to go about in installing and configuring modem
on my machine. I want the full details from the scratch like how to
connect, where to connect , after connection how to install and
configure in linux ,what are all the pre-requesites ? Please Help !!!
