Hello everybody,
When I tried to boot my computer under Linux today,
to my horror , I found that my computer hangs.
This has never happened before.
(The boot process occurs without a glitch if I type
dos at the LILO prompt)
I am using PCQ Red Hat 6.2 on kernel 2.2.16

First, when I tried to boot, I got the following :
(Lines may wrap .)
_________________________________________________
...............(Some lines here which I always see during boot)..........
............................................................................
......................
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
Change_root : old root has d_count = 1
Trying to unmount old root . . . okay
Freeing unused kernel memory : 64k freed
INIT : Version 2.78 booting

                        Welcome to Red Hat Linux
Press ' I ' to enter interactive startup
Mounting proc filesystem [OK]
Configuring kernel parameters [OK]
_ ( *here the cursor keeps blinking forever or till I reboot*)

Then I tried to boot from the boot floppy ( kernel 2.2.16)
I got this:
_______________________________________________

Kernel Panic : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 03:05

What do I do now ??
Please Help.
Reinstallation will definitely hurt as I have some important
C programs in there.

Thanks in advance.
