Try this;
Run drakxservices and disable "sound" and enable "alsasound".
Run "/etc/init.d/sound stop"
followed by "/etc/init.d/alsasound start"
During the above, if u get an error about not being able to stop device, do a
reboot - Iam sure there is a workaround - but I am not aware - I used to
reboot.
Then try playing a wav/mp3 file.
If this does not work insert the lines below in your /etc/modules.conf:
I use the mdk 7.2 with alsa drivers 0.5.10 and sound works fine with ac97 on
i810.
Please remember most of the above will have to be done as root.
